Description
Something special for the week leading up to Apple Day in Ely. a wheat and wholemeal spelt loaf enriched with apple and cinnamon. The apples come from slightly further afield than the recent crop of figs, Heath Fruit Farm in Bluntisham. and the variety used, Howgate Wonder, is a traditional cooking apple first cultivated in 1915.
This is an interesting loaf as, despite there being no added sugar or sweetener, the cinnamon fools you into thinking that this is a sweet bread, best with sweet toppings. But there are no rules, see where this loaf takes you!
