Description
It is made with apples but it’s not butter! It’s not jam either, and it’s not a curd. The name ‘butter’ simply comes from the fact that it’s a highly spreadable form of preserved apples, locally grown Howgate Wonders, slowly cooked down with a little sugar and a touch of cinnamon.
Slap it on a slice, include it in your bakes, or do like I do when you want a ‘healthy’ snack – break off a shard of crispbread and scoop it straight from the jar. Decadence has never been so easy.
